By the beard of Zeus...a show? [Aug. 1st, 2005|09:23 am]

[mood |hungryhungry]
[music |Coo-Coo clocks...-Unwed Salior]

So exceeding_rubicon has decided to pull it together and do a show while we are all still alive and in state.  I know what you are thinking....I thought they had all stopped playing and got married and have families.  I am sorry but this rumor is false!  We still are in the buisness of rocking faces off and here is the proof:

I don't know if anyone reads this anymore but if you do you should come andbring a bunch of friends because it is going to be a very fun show!

God bless

the "x" word... [Jun. 23rd, 2005|04:42 pm]
Joe, Josh, James, Andy, Adam
Hey, I just wanted to let everyone know that I also have a...now keep your voice down when you read this so the livejournal people don't hear...a xanga. I post on that a ton because all of my friends on missions staff have them, and since I share this one with 4 other dudes I don't really post on it that much. Anyway, if you want to check up on how I am or thoughts I've been having them go to www.xanga.com/iamjoesjournal If any of you have a xanga then subscribe unto me and I shall subscribe unto you. Sounds like a verse. Alright, I'm out.

when in Rome, be cheesy with your livejournal titles [May. 23rd, 2005|03:01 pm]
Joe, Josh, James, Andy, Adam
Hey everyone, Im in Rome right now. Crazy huh? Its so good to hear from Andy and from Josh. Seriously a day hasn't gone by where I haven't talked about them. Andy, I miss you so much, I talk about you all the time. I miss your clothes...I miss you musk...I think when this is all over you and I should get an apartment together (Anchorman). Aaaanyway. So I'll be in the MI from July 24th to August 7th, and then its back to ORU for RA training time. I miss you too Josh, but next year I'm going to live with you, so I'll just focus on others for now. Ive been telling all these crazy stories like about showering together and stuff, good times. Adam, I miss you a ton also. Im going to see star wars in 4 hours, but it doesnt feel right watching it without you and Karl. I want to resolve to call Andy, Adam, and Matt Williams far more than I have been. I'm sorry that I haven't guys, and being in Italy has really made me realize how much I need to be calling you and staying in touch.

Being the leader of a missions trip is so different from being a team member. Seriously, its only by Gods grace that I am able to do it. Its amazing that when God has called you to do something, he seriously does equip you. On our time we have had a problem with submission to authority that we dealt with directly this morning. Something that Colleen (the other team leader) mentioned was this story that I read in Under Cover by John Bevere. Lisa Bevere when John and she were first married really rose up to take charge and was really getting frustrated that she felt like she was doing everything. She was cooking, cleaning, and discipling that kids, and doing so many other things that should have been Johns job. She was complaining to God about it one day and God told her 'what is a burden for you is a mantel for John'. Since she was not the leader of the marriage, and yet she was making herself as such and not letting John lead, she was getting frustrated, because Gods annointing and grace was not upon her for that task. However, John was annointed to lead in that area, and for him it was a mantel, and Gods grace was abundent. The same is true for a missions trip. If you try and be the leader and take charge, you will get frustrated and angry every time, as we have seen on our trip. But if you submit to the leadership, Gods grace and annointing is upon them, and therefore it is easy for them to lead. Just some wisdom God through our way that is applicable for everyone, because no matter what we do, our entire lives we will be under leadership and therefore need to be in submissions to that leadership.

Ok, Im off to watch Star Wars, nothing else matters.
Ciao!

MADAGASCAR!! [May. 10th, 2005|01:20 pm]
Joe, Josh, James, Andy, Adam
Hello friends I am super excited to hear about andy's trip!! Way to go kid! I am leaving in one hour to spend the next two months in Madagascar!!!! I am soo excited! But I need your prayers soo very much. My team made all of our funds a couple days ago and all nine of us are able to go. I must keep it short, but I would really like to give testimony to all that God has already done for my team. Like even during fundraisers we are getting divine appointments! God is soo good... all the time, even when I had absolutely no money for this trip God had a plan for me to raise all the funds and to change lives in the process. Prase the Lord!!! Well that is all for proly the next two months. I love all of you deeply and will miss you.

God bless,
-josh

It has been awhile... [May. 10th, 2005|12:22 am]
Joe, Josh, James, Andy, Adam
Well I know that it has pretty much been an eternity since the last time I posted, and to be completely honest with you the past few months have been a roller coaster of emotions and concerns. I will try to lay a few things out for you.

I have been in a program called Holy hands since September. It has pretty much turned out to be everything I thought it would not be. I was feeling very bitter and angry towards the program. Then we found out that Pastor J experienced mental breakdown and burnout. He then went on to resign as the Pastor of Holy Hands. Our Scotland trip was cancelled and now even our tour was cancelled. Everything is up in the air about the future of Holy Hands now.

Out of this year I have realized that God has placed a strong calling on my heart for missions. He has given me specific plans as to what I am to do with my life.

I have also began a relationship with one of the greatest women I have ever met. Her name is Brittney and she is such a huge blessing and compliment to my life. She supports me in everything I do and she really helps put my visions into focus. I am so thankful God has placed her in my life during such a huge time of emotion, physical, and spiritual strain.

One of the visions she has helped me with is the reality of going back to Thailand this summer with her. Since everything is cancelled this summer we now have an opportunity to go back to the same area I worked with last year. We will be leaving on June 16th and we have to raise 1500 dollars each. We are doing our part to make this a reality, but we need all the help we can get. If there is any way in which you can help us financially it would be greatly appreciated. Just call me at: (734) 771-7063. I know God has everything planned out and taken care of. Please be praying for us. Please pray for Thailand!

Hey, geeze its been forever since I've blogged, and even longer since I've been on livejournal. I remember back in the day I used to be what kept this thing alive, and now I forgot it even existed. So Family Time with Larry and Cathy have their first show tomorrow. I'm really excited, I think its going to be awesome. This is the first show I've ever done at like a real venue. All of the other shows we've done have been at churchs and stuff like that. I'm excited, even though the Pinkeye isn't the best venue, at least its legit (too legit to quit).

I do have to say one thing though, I miss playing with EX_R. If there were any 4 musicians that I could choose to play with for my entire life, it would be Exceeding Rubicon. Not that I'm saying I don't love Family Time, but theres just some connection that EX_R has that has been formed over years of friendship, and it comes out in the music and song writing. Like in Family Time we practice all the time, like twice a week, but I feel like we get so little done because we arn't connected like EX_R is. See Exceeding Rubicon can have one practice every 6 months and get 3 new songs down perfectly. Quite a difference. I know that its because of all the time we've spent knowing each other as friends and as musicians, which is a direct result of playing together in the Ignition worship band (except for James). I think if we all played in a worship band at some church we would become a lot more solid. I believe it has something to do with the fact that worship music is so simply and that you practice and perform at least once a week that brings the band together. Not to mention that the focus is on something far greater than yourself. Luke the Elder and I were discussing this today on the ride back from practice and formulating if it was possible for this to happen. I would drop everything at my church (which is nothing, since I'm not involved), and go to whereever we could lead worship together. Problem is, Luke the Elder is the youth pastor at his church and Luke the Conqueror as the worship leader at his. Maybe we can work something out in the future.

So next year I'm going to be an Event Coordinator on missions staff! I know that means nothing to any of you, but I was an Event Assitant this year and the Coordinators are in charge of all of the Assitants. This could also mean that I will be on strategy staff, which means that you pretty much help make the big decisions in the program, like who the team leaders are and where they are assigned, as well as who goes on what trip. Another perk to being on stategy staff is that I would get a lower lot pass!!! that would be incredible. Alright, well I did my thing. I love livejournal so much more than xanga.

what it is,
-Joe

Then the cutting began:

And more cutting:

And my mass of hair that was living on my head:

Now that I am all cleaned up, time for a shave!

Ohhhh yeah, I got some hot hair, and i shaved, now time for a night on the town!

And me with my Grand-daughter Sarah Grace:

And Joshua rose a moose!

ITS OVER!!!

[music |The Go! Team - Friendship Update]

So this weekend was one of the most intense experiences of my life. I did a missions fundraiser where my missions team and I walked across the pan-handle of Oklahoma. When I started planning for this walk I pictured in my head a leasurely walk in 80 degree sunny beautiful weather. Well, it snowed...in Texas (1st time since 86) and in Oklahoma. Needless to say, it was alot harder then i imagined it. so my team waked 25 mile in the snow with the Oklahoma wind blowing in our faces. But God was just amazing to us, I know we are going to pull in more money then we expected on this!

So Dhaves is comming to tulsa on friday!!! I am super excited about it! It is gonna be such a blast. I am supposed to go to my wing banquet but it is like $32 a head and I really have no money right now. So taking a date is out of the question, and even going is going to be hard-pressed.

I will be cutting my hair on friday for a missions fundraiser. I am really glad to be getting rid of it all. I will take some lj pics when I cut it so everyone can laugh with me about it!!

Please pray for me as the semester comes to a close, my trip gets closer, and desions about next year need to be made. Thank you soo much.

God bless,
-josh
